StreetLink London exists to help end rough sleeping in the capital by enabling members of the public to connect people sleeping rough with the local services that can support them.

How does it work?

If you are concerned about someone over the age of 18 that you have seen sleeping rough in London, you can use this website to send an alert to StreetLink. The details you provide will be reviewed by the StreetLink team who will look at the information you provide and make a judgement as to whether the alert is suitable to be sent to the local street outreach for the area in which you have seen the person, to help them find the individual and connect them to support.

It is important to note that if you think the person you are concerned about is under 18 please do not contact StreetLink but instead call the police.

During the current cold weather, Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) has been activated across London. This means councils have opened emergency provisions to make sure people can be brought off the streets into somewhere warm. Sleeping outside is always dangerous, but extreme winter temperatures can kill. When the weather is forecast to drop below zero degrees, SWEP ensures that vulnerable people are protected.

We ask you to provide the following information:
1) An exact location of where this person is rough sleeping.You can do this by using a map to pinpoint the exact location and by providing a detailed written description of the location.
2) The time that you saw the person sleeping rough at the location.
3) Any additional information that will help the local team find the individual sleeping rough (gender, approximate age, what the person looks like, what they are wearing).

Following the alert being sent to the local street outreach team, you will receive details of the outreach team's typical response, and will receive and an update on what has happened as a result of your alert within 14 days if you have requested it. Sending StreetLink an alert about someone sleeping rough is the best way to connect that individual to the additional support available during SWEP. We pass on the information you provide in your alert to outreach teams who go out overnight to find and support people who are rough sleeping. As you can imagine, during this dangerously cold weather we are receiving a dramatically increased number of alerts and many are for the same location, particularly if this is exposed or highly populated such as outside a tube station. Although outreach teams across London are very busy, they will respond to your alert as soon as they can, and anyone found to be without shelter will be offered somewhere warm and dry to stay.
